NADA wage/hour webinar now on-demand; revised dealer guide also available

The new NADA Dealer Guide to Federal Wage and Hour, Child Labor and Wage Discrimination Compliance (L01) is now available on NADA University Online. It provides franchised automobile and commercial truck dealerships an overview of the federal law on wage and hour, child labor and wage discrimination, along with dealership-specific suggestions for compliance. The guide includes a discussion of the U.S. Department of Labor’s amendments to the “white collar” employee overtime exemptions scheduled to take effect December 1, 2016. The guide is available at no charge to NADA and ATD members.

NADA members can also access a recorded copy the September 28 webinar, New Wage/Hour Regulations, Issues and Concerns for Dealerships (SE316).

Both the webinar and guide are available at www.nada.org/onlinelearning. (Your NADA login is required.) Type “L01” in the search bar to find both.

MADA’s complimentary license review service

The State of Michigan has begun the dealer license renewal process and MADA is here to help!  If your license expires this year, you should soon receive your dealer license renewal application by mail, directly from the state. (Those with a current multi-year renewal will not receive anything from the state.)

MADA has also sent a mailing to dealers with tips, extra information and reminders to help you renew easily and on-time.  (Also check out our special “renewing your license” web page.)

As always, dealers are encouraged to send their completed renewal information to MADA. We will review it for accuracy and contact you if any information is missing or incorrect. Once everything looks good we will personally deliver it to the state. By catching errors before the renewal goes to the state, MADA’s complimentary review service helps minimize delays in processing and approval of your renewal!

New for 2017! Your repair facility name and number are listed on the dealer license renewal.  Please review and note any changes.

If you have any questions about your license renewals, bonds or dealer plates please contact Jean Quinn at (800) 292-1923 ext. 320, or email jquinn@michiganada.org.

Child Passenger Safety Week: September 18-24

Every 33 seconds, one child under the age of 13 is involved in a crash. Many times deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts. NHTSA has developed a toolkit for information and ideas on how to generate awareness about child car safety in your community during Child Passenger Safety Week and National Seat Check Saturday, and throughout the year.
