Thank you for maintaining your uniform vehicle dealer surety bond through DIA. Our bonds are underwritten by Merchants Bonding Company, which has a strong history in bonding and is a company we trust.

We remind dealers that the Secretary of State increased the required surety bond amount to $25,000, effective when a bond or dealer license is renewed in 2023 and after. The Michigan Department of State (MDOS) will not renew a dealer license without the $25,000 surety bond.

To maintain compliance with new dealer licensing regulations, uniform vehicle dealer surety bonds must be increased in value from $10,000 to $25,000 – even if the bond is in the middle of a multi-year term length. Following are the fees to continue or renew DIA bonds at the required $25,000 value. Please see your invoice from MADA/DIA for more information on your bond situation. 

Bond Endorsement Upgrade (mid-term increase)

  • 1 Year Remaining on Bond, Increase to $25,000 ($113)
  • 2 Year Remaining on Bond, Increase to $25,000 ($225)

Standard Bond Renewal (bond expiring 12/31/23)

  • 1 Year Bond at $25,000 ($250)
  • 2 Year Bond at $25,000 ($438)
  • 3 Year Bond at $25,000 ($625)
