Proper Repair Invoice Criteria

A repair facility must provide all customers with a final written invoice for all repairs. This also Includes any repair conducted under a warranty. All invoices must include the following:

  • A description of the repairs requested, authorized and performed, including a detailed list of all the replacement parts indicating if the parts are new original equipment manufacturer(OEM), new, OEM surplus, used, rebuilt or reconditioned.
  • The estimated price of repairs.
  • The actual price of repairs.
  • A certification statement signed by a representative of the facility stating that the repairs were done properly or a detailed explanation of the facility’s inability to complete repairs properly.
  • The name and mechanic certification number of all mechanics who performed diagnosis and/or repairs. If repair work is performed by a trainee under the supervision of a certified mechanic, the invoice must include the name and number of the certified mechanic and the name and number of the trainee
  • The facility’s registration number.

Properly Certified Mechanic Reminder

All repair facilities must have at least one mechanic certified in each specialty category of repair which it provides. Customers are entitled to a full refund when a mechanic is found to be performing repairs without the proper specialty category certification, or the mechanic allows their certificate to expire.
